Anambra Central Senate seat: Group endorses Umeh for second term

The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL) has endorsed Senator Victor Umeh for another term in office, declaring that there is “no vacancy” in the Anambra Central Senatorial District seat, ahead of the forthcoming election.

In a press release issued by the group’s President General, Goodluck Ibem, on behalf of the apex socio-political youth organisation in the South East, COSEYL said its decision followed a review of Umeh’s performance since assuming office as the senator representing Anambra Central in the National Assembly.

The group described the senator, known as Ohamadike Ndigbo, as having delivered “outstanding performance and transformational leadership” that sets him apart from previous representatives of the district.

“His tenure has been marked by purposeful leadership, quality representation, people-oriented projects, effective legislative contributions, and fearless advocacy for the welfare and development of his constituents and Ndigbo at large,” the statement said.

COSEYL praised Umeh for what he called consistent and courageous advocacy on issues affecting the Igbo nation and the South East region, saying his voice in the Senate “continues to command respect and inspire confidence among Ndi Anambra and Nigerians in general.”

Citing these achievements, the coalition called on all political parties in Anambra Central to adopt Umeh as their sole candidate for the upcoming senatorial election, arguing that leadership should be judged on “performance, competence, integrity, and commitment to the people, and not merely on political party affiliations.”

“There is absolutely no vacancy in Anambra Central Senatorial District,” the statement read. “The people have witnessed true representation under Senator Victor Umeh, and the overwhelming support he continues to enjoy across communities is a reflection of his impactful service and unwavering dedication to the welfare of the people.”

The group urged residents across party, religious, and social lines to rally behind Umeh’s re-election bid, stating that “a performing leader deserves encouragement, continuity, and overwhelming support.”

Senator Victor Umeh currently represents Anambra Central Senatorial District in the 10th National Assembly under the Labour Party banner.
