The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the November 8, 2025, election in Anambra State, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, has promised to transform Awka, the state capital, into a world-class city.
Ukachukwu made the pledge during a thank-you tour of the state’s local government areas in Nibo, Awka South, alongside his running mate, Senator Dr Uche Ekwunife. He also committed to addressing the pressing issue of insecurity in the state capital if elected.
Addressing an enthusiastic crowd of supporters, community leaders, and residents, Ukachukwu underscored the pivotal role of Awka South in Anambra’s development and pledged to elevate Awka into a state capital that embodies modernity and progress.
He described Awka South Local Government Area as the cornerstone of Anambra’s political and economic base. “Awka South is the heartbeat of our state. As the capital, it must shine as a true symbol of Anambra’s greatness,” he declared.
The flag-bearer outlined bold plans to revitalise Awka through cutting-edge infrastructure, strategic urban development, and economic empowerment initiatives, promising, “We will transform Awka into a city that inspires pride across Anambra and beyond. A city where insecurity and incessant killings of our youths will be a thing of the past.”
Joined by his running mate, Senator Ekwunife, APC state chairman Chief Basil Ejidike, Dr Obinna Uzoh, and others, Ukachukwu emphasised his commitment to uniting Anambra under the APC’s progressive vision.
Drawing on his experience as a philanthropist, real estate magnate, and former House of Representatives member, he vowed to deliver inclusive governance, saying, “Our campaign is about connecting Anambra to the centre for unprecedented development. With APC, we will secure federal resources, grants, and opportunities to transform our state.”
Senator Ekwunife, in her speech, urged residents to rally behind Ukachukwu, describing him as a visionary leader capable of unseating incumbent Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). “Prince Ukachukwu is the change Anambra craves. Together, we will build a state that works for all,” she affirmed.
Chief Ejidike reiterated the party’s grassroots strategy, stating, “Awka South is key to our victory. With Prince Ukachukwu leading, we are on a clear path to the Government House.”
The Nibo rally, part of Ukachukwu’s extensive tour across Anambra’s 21 local government areas, drew passionate support from traditional rulers, market women, youth groups, and party loyalists.
