Amu hails APC over subsidized nomination forms for women 

All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant for Owan West House of Assembly in Edo State, Victoria Amu, has commended the national leadership of the party over the discounted price of nomination forms offered to women and young people, saying that it’s a notable step towards achieving the inclusion of women and youths in governance.

She said this in a press statement following the announcement of the party at the opening of its 11th National Executive Committee (NEC) that aspirants below the age of 40 will get a 50 per cent discount on the cost of the expression of interest and nomination forms, while women and persons living with disabilities will enjoy free tickets.

According to Amu, the decision reflected the party’s commitment to its progressive ideals which include achieving the adequate and proportionate representation of women and youths, two marginalized groups, in governance across all leadership levels.

She praised the party for providing “meaningful encouragement to women beyond empty rhetoric” and urged its organs at the local level to display the same spirit as it approaches the primaries, adding that emphasis must be placed on fairness and loyalty.

Calling for a primaries process devoid of imposition, Amu said her loyalty to the party over the years, alongside her proven credentials as a professional with practical understanding of representing the people’s interests, should be considered and rewarded by delegates and the party’s leadership.

She appealed to the leaders of the party to ensure a credible primaries process and support her emergence to bolster the party’s record as one that prioritizes the representation of women in leadership and governance.
