Operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun, have rescued five persons kidnapped on Friday night at two different locations in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

The kidnappers had reportedly struck in two different locations in Akure, including a health centre located at Oke-Ijebu area of the town where three health workers on night duty at a Primary Health Centre were kidnapped.

The kidnappers had reportedly taken the victims to a hideout but they were traced there by the operatives of the Amotekun corps.

The Corps Commander, Adetunji Adeleye, confirmed the development in a statement made available to newsmen.

Adeleye disclosed that a 45-year-old man and his 15-year-old son were abducted at Pelebe at Oda road, Akure between 7:30 pm and 8:00 pm on Friday.

He hinted that the victims were, however, rescued by the Rapid Response Squad of Amotekun Corps at 1:00 am yesterday after a serious confrontation with the kidnappers.

Adeleye also disclosed that the three kidnapped health workers have also regained freedom and are currently receiving treatment at the Amotekun health facility.

The Amotekun commander assured residents that safety of lives and property remains a top priority of the state government.

He urged members of the public to continue to provide timely and adequate information to security agencies, emphasizing the need for collective efforts to enhance safety across the state.
