Nigeria’s Ambassador to Sweden, Lola Akande, yesterday, presented her Letters of Credence to Danish monarch, King Frederik X of Denmark, indicating interest to commence diplomatic engagement with the country.
Akande who presented her credentials to the Danish monarch at Christiansborg Palace in Copenhagen, conveyed the warm greetings and best wishes of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the King, the Danish Royal Family, as well as the government and people of Denmark.
During the meeting, Akande reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations with Denmark, stressing the importance of expanding co-operation across key areas of mutual interest.
The ambassador commended King Frederik X for his longstanding commitment to global sustainability and climate stewardship, while identifying climate action, peace and security, and sustainable development as important pillars for strengthening Nigeria-Denmark relations.
In a statement, Akande also emphasised Nigeria’s strategic interest in its relationship with Denmark and expressed the country’s readiness to work closely with the Danish Government, private sector and other stakeholders to broaden bilateral co-operation.
The presentation of the Letters of Credence formally marks the beginning of Akande’s diplomatic responsibilities as Nigeria’s ambassador to Denmark.
Akande is resident in Stockholm, Sweden, where she serves as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Sweden, with concurrent accreditation to Denmark, Finland and Norway. ENDS
