Following the resounding success of its maiden edition, the Amazons Tennis Tournament is set to return for a second outing with a record number of participants, underscoring the growing appeal of women’s recreational tennis in Nigeria.

Organisers disclosed that registration for the tournament, which lasted just 10 days, was filled almost immediately as more than 130 women signed up to take part in the competition.

This year’s edition, themed “GiveToGain,” is being staged as part of activities marking International Women’s Month, adding further significance to the event which celebrates women and their contributions to sport.

Widely regarded as the largest women’s recreational tennis tournament in Nigeria—and across Africa—the competition will feature participants drawn from over 25 recreational tennis clubs across Lagos, all competing for individual honours as well as club pride.

The much-anticipated tournament is scheduled to hold on March 28, 2026, at the historic Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Onikan, one of the country’s oldest sporting venues established in 1895.

Excitement is already building within the tennis community as players, clubs, and enthusiasts count down to the event, which organisers say goes beyond competition to celebrate women, resilience, and the unifying power of sport.
