For more than 13 years, Amaka Akukwe has worked behind the scenes to create memorable experiences around some of Nollywood’s major film premieres and entertainment events.
As Founder and Chief Creative Director of RedBox, an experiential agency, Akukwe has worked on projects linked to films including Call of My Life, Sugar Rush, Palava, Omo Ghetto, Lisabi and Colours of Fire.
Beyond film premieres, RedBox’s portfolio spans corporate events, brand activations, cultural experiences, festivals and large-scale productions for brands and institutions including Netflix, Meta, Tolaram, IFC and Access Bank.
The agency has also supported five consecutive editions of the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF), providing event production and branding services for workshops, premieres and gala events.
Akukwe said her approach to event production is centred on creating experiences that resonate with audiences beyond the event itself.

“I’m always thinking about what people will feel, not just what they will see. The best experiences stay with you long after you’ve left the room,” she said.
She and the RedBox team are also part of the production team for the Black Market event at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos, which is expected to attract more than 50,000 people.
Akukwe also serves in Events and Branding at AFRIFF, further expanding her role within Nigeria’s film and festival ecosystem.
Through RedBox, she continues to work across entertainment, corporate events, culture, and large-scale productions, focusing on creating experiences that complement the stories and brands they represent.
