The family of late singer Mohbad, whose real name was Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, has initiated a fresh toxicology test to ascertain the cause of his mysterious death.
Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, and was buried the following day.
In response to public outcry, his body was exhumed on September 21, and an initial autopsy was performed.
However, in May, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Wahab Shittu revealed that the pathologist reported to the coroner that the body’s decomposition made it impossible to determine the cause of death.

Monisola Odumosu, a member of the Aloba family’s legal team, announced that a two-part autopsy is now being conducted.
The first phase occurred last week, and the second phase will include toxicology and histology tests.
The autopsy, held on July 19 and 20, 2024, was witnessed by Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, and a pathologist representing Wunmi, the late singer’s wife.
Odumosu stated, “The second autopsy, as requested by the Aloba family and ordered by the Magistrate of the Coroner Court, Ms. T.A. Shotobi, was conducted on Friday, July 19, and Saturday, July 20, 2024. This autopsy is a two-part exercise, with the first part now completed. If the cause of death cannot be determined from this initial examination, the second part will proceed, involving a toxicology and histology test on the necessary samples already obtained.”
The comprehensive procedure aims to provide a clearer understanding of the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s untimely death, as witnessed by legal representatives and appointed pathologists.
