Alleged forgery: Police arraign woman, 44, over N30m land scam

A 44-year-old woman, Busari Temitope, has been arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Ibadan over alleged conspiracy, forgery and stealing involving landed property valued at N30 million in the Bodija area of the Oyo State capital.

According to court papers, with charge number, Mi/206 filed by the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, the defendant and others said to be at large allegedly committed the offences in September 2023 within the Ibadan Magisterial District.

In count 1, Temitope and her accomplices were accused of conspiracy to commit felony, an offence contrary to Section 516 of the Criminal Code, Cap 38, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000.

Count 2 alleged that the defendant and others unlawfully forged landed property documents relating to a parcel of land situated at Wisdom Estate, Bodija, Ibadan, in the name of one Folawe Olatunji. The alleged offence was said to be contrary to Section 465 and punishable under Section 467 of the Criminal Code, Cap 38, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000.  The prosecution further stated in Count 3 that Temitope and others at large unlawfully stole the sum of N30 million, property of Folawe Olatunji, in the same magisterial district. The alleged act is contrary to Section 383 and punishable under Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 38, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000. The charge sheet indicated that the defendant was represented in court, while the prosecution was led by a police prosecutor attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Meanwhile, efforts were said to be ongoing by the police to apprehend other suspects in connection with the alleged offences who are currently at large.
