Benue State governor, Hyacinth Alia, has announced plans to upgrade the College of Education (COE), Oju, into a standard higher institution with a new nomenclature as part of efforts to revamp the state’s education sector.
Speaking at a town hall meeting in the Oju/Obi Federal Constituency during his statewide tour, he also assured residents that the Oju-Awajir Road construction would be completed alongside other legacy projects.
Additionally, he revealed that technical assessments have been concluded to revive the abandoned Igumale Cement Factory in Enone.

The governor, who urged residents to embrace large-scale farming, noted that state investments in the Food Basket Brewery, Fruit Juice Company, and Taraku Mills would guarantee ready markets and eliminate post-harvest losses.
On security, Alia reaffirmed that no Benue land would be ceded for ranching, while thanking President Bola Tinubu for approving a new Army Division in Makurdi to tackle insecurity.
During the visit, traditional and religious leaders conferred on the governor the chieftaincy title of Ogakwu of Igede Land (Strong Man of Igede).
Oju LG Chairman, Jackson Adah; Assembly Chief Whip, Cyril Ikon; Youth Commissioner, Nick Eworo; deputy governor, Sam Ode; and APC state chairman, Dr. Benjamin Omale, all commended the administration’s infrastructure, security, and human development strides, pledging sustained grassroots support.
