Akwa Ibom state government said it has spent over N879b on road projects during the administration of pastor Umo Eno in 3 years .
Speaking during the 2026 Ministerial Briefing at Government House Uyo , the Commissioner of Works Prof Eno Ibanga said the amount spent covers 234 roads, erosion control/ intervention and 40 electrical works projects.
Ibanga disclosed that the roads have a total of 1,159.63km of bridges which are at various levels of completion as well as 352.83km of Rural Access Agricultural Marketing Projects (RAAMP) roads sponsored by world bank in partnership with the state Government.
“His Excellency pastor Umo Eno executed and funded a total of 234 projects rural ( roads, erosion, control/intervention and electrical) with 40 nos .
“Bridges totalling 1,159.63km which are at various stages of completion (352.83km) RAAMP projects across the state
“This gives us a total of 1,511.83km of roads done by the State Government presently”
Ibanga who was flanked at the media briefing by the Commissioner of Information Hon Aniekan Umanah the projects has gulped N879.22b excluding RAAMP projects .
“The total amount spent on all these projects both Arise project and inherited ones exclude RAAMP projects is N879.22 billion .

According to the Works Commissioner, a breakdown of the projects include : Design, Construction and Maintenance of State Roads, including bridges and culverts, development of electricity policy, programmes and schemes in liaison with relevant MDAS, establishment and maintenance of mechanical and electrical workshops, repairs of plants and heavy-duty equipment.
Others were provision and maintenance of traffic lights, streets lighting and other electrical activities across the State, provision of geotechnical and material testing services for quality control/assurance as well supervision, monitoring and evaluation of government projects to obtain value for money spent on the projects.
Ibanga also listed achievements of pastor Umo Eno’s administration in infrastructure development to include completion of 105 inherited projects from the previous administration, completion of 129 Arise Finance and General Purpose Committee (FGPC) projects, road maintenance works, execution of 43 RAAMP projects as well reconstruction and reclamation works in the state.
He listed 16 road projects awarded in 2026 adding that government was desirous to complete them before the second term of pastor Umo Eno’s administration.
Ibanga said his ministry set a target revenue of N229,550,000.00 (Two Hundred and Twenty-Nine Million while Five Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira) only was approved for them in 2026.
“The Ministry was able to generate a total of N303,613,300.00 representing 132.26% by end of June (2nd Quarter), 2026 into the State Treasury Single Account (TSA) from proceeds of Access Permit/Right of Way payments and sales of unserviceable items”
Ibanga enumerated benefits and impacts of the road projects including recognition of the status of Akwa Ibom State as a destination in the South South of Nigeria .
“ We want to thank His Excellency, Governor Umo Eno for diligently driving the infrastructure aspect of the ARISE AGENDA and for the budgetary releases to the Ministry so far to achieve the above listed programmes/projects for the development of the State”
