Akwa Ibom set to unveil plans for 2026 Christmas Unplugged

Gov

The Akwa Ibom State government is set to roll out modalities for this year’s annual state festival, Christmas Unplugged. Speaking on the festival, the state governor, Pastor Umo Eno said the modality will be revealed at the September edition of the State Covenant Service held at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Uyo.

Eno explained that a draw will be conducted during the State’s Variety Night on September 23 to know when each council area would participate in activities at the Christmas Village.

He said the arrangement was intended to ensure fairness unlike in the past when the activities automatically commenced with Abak Local Government Area.

Governor Eno said councils would engage in a raffle draw to determine the delicacies each council would prepare and showcase at the Christmas Village, adding that the state was blessed with a variety of indigenous delicacies.

He added that interested choirs would also participate in a draw to determine slots for the Christmas Carols Festival scheduled for Friday, December 18, 2026.
