Senate President, Godswill Akpabio; Governors of Anambra and Kaduna States, Chukwuma Soludo and Uba Sani, respectively, have won the 2024 edition of The Outstanding Performance (TOP) awards.

 

Similarly, wives of the governors of Jigawa, Imo and Kwara states, were announced as the winners of the First Ladies of the year award, perhaps, for their outstanding contributions to humanity and governance in the outgoing year, 2024.

 

The winners were announced at a press conference, in Abuja, at the weekend, to herald activities that would culminate in the inauguration of Nigeria Today Magazine Hall of Fame, presentation of Nigeria Today weekly magazine, and award of honour to outstanding Nigerians and organisations.

 

The organizer, Barr. Eze Chikamnayo, former Commissioner for information, Abia state, told journalists at the press conference, that apart from the governors, some prominent legislators who have distinguished themselves in the year in focus would also be honoured at the event.

He said: “In line with our policy and philosophy, the awardees are being honoured for commitment to public service, political leadership, business leadership, research and innovations and Philanthropy.

 

“The idea is to deepen the ethos of public and community service, dedication to service, as well as to promote role models, even as the country seeks to nurture a new generation of leaders across public and private sector to inspire confidence for an enduring future for the country.”

 

He confirmed that the event will have His Excellency, Senator Kashim Shettima, Vice President, as the Chief Guest of Honour, while Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abass will be the Special Guest of Honour. His Excellency, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, former Senate President and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation will chair the occasion; while His Excellency Senator Adams Oshiomhole will deliver the annual lecture on the topic,“The Imperatives of Strategic Economic Reforms in Nigeria’s Quest for Sustainable Development”.
