The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has commended the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Senate Matters, Sen. Basheer Lado, for ensuring that there have been no leaks of presidential communications to the Senate since he assumed office.
Speaking during a visit to Lado’s office in Abuja on Thursday, Akpabio emphasised the importance of maintaining confidentiality in government affairs.
“Let me put on record that since Senator Lado’s assumption of office as Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on National Assembly (Senate Matters), we have not had a single leakage of private communication between the presidency and the Senate,” Akpabio said.
He stressed that the unauthorised release of sensitive information could undermine national security, saying, “We have not had a single incidence of leakage. In government, there is the right to know, but when government business is conducted through newspapers and social media leakages, it negatively affects national security.”
Akpabio praised Lado’s efficiency in strengthening executive-legislative relations, describing his performance in office as unprecedented.
