Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi has been named in WhoScored’s Premier League Team of the Week following his impressive display for Hull City in their stunning 2-0 victory over Manchester United.
Ajayi played a key role as Hull made a memorable return to the Premier League, helping the newly promoted side secure a clean sheet against Michael Carrick’s team at the MKM Stadium on Saturday.
The Nigeria international also made a decisive contribution at the other end of the pitch, opening the scoring in the 17th minute.
Ajayi reacted quickest to a rebound inside the Manchester United penalty area before firing Hull into the lead.
His defensive contribution was equally important as Hull restricted United to limited clear-cut opportunities throughout the encounter.
Ajayi was subsequently substituted in the 64th minute after helping the Tigers maintain their two-goal advantage.
The former Flying Eagles star is joined in WhoScored’s Team of the Week by Hull goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis, while Michael Kayode and Keane Lewis-Potter represent Brentford.
Jaka Bijol and Anton Stach made the selection for Leeds United, with Brentford midfielder Vitaly Janelt also included.
Brighton & Hove Albion have two representatives in Jack Hinshelwood and Maxim De Cuyper, while Chelsea’s Cole Palmer and João Pedro complete the XI.
