Wife of the president, Dr (Mrs) Aisha Buhari who is the chairperson of All Progressives Congress (APC) Women and Youth Presidential Campaign team has called on Adamawa State residents to vote for her husband, Muhammadu Buhari in the forthcoming presidential election slated for Saturday, February 16, 2019.
The First Lady who was represented at the campaign rally in Yola on Thursday by a former military administrator of Lagos State, General Mohammed Buba Marwa (retd) who is also the Chairman of the Central Working Committee, urged the people to vote the APC at all levels in the coming elections for their benefits.
She urged the APC stakeholders in the state to put aside their differences and grievances to support the party and its governorship candidate , Mohammed Jibrila Bindow as well as other APC contestants to clinch the state. According to her, Governor Bindow and Dr Halilu Modibbo, who contested for the party’s ticket are both the same to her and regard them as her brothers.
The First Lady who hails from Adamawa State further explained that for the fact that her younger brother, Dr Modibbo competed during the party’s primaries which brought about the emergence of Bindow as the governorship candidate of the party in the state did not mean that she was not going to support Governor Bindow.
“Governor Bindow and Dr Modibbo are the same to me, and they are all my younger brothers; we should play politics with maturity and tolerance for the future of our dear state and our nation,” she said
She commended the APC government on the fight against corruption and the Boko Haram insurgency in the North East, adding that before President Buhari came to power, seven local government areas in the state were under the control of the insurgents. She expressed satisfaction that since the intervention of President Buhari, the affected council had been liberated by the Nigerian troops.
She also added that the fight against corruption had yielded positively and impacted on the economy of the nation even as she urged the people to vote for the APC which had done well in the state and in the entire country.
Mrs Buhari also urged Nigerians to vote wisely and stay away from any activities that could threaten the peace of the nation before, during and after the general elections.
As the mother of the nation, she admonished all politicians in the country to play the game according to the rules and regulations stipulated by the constitution while pleading with them to vote Buhari and APC to enable them continue with the good works they started.
