The Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 4, Makurdi, AIG Zacharia Achinyan, has ordered full investigation into the fire incident at Police Mobile Force (PMF) Base in Makurdi, Benue State.
The facility was gutted by fire last Sunday, January 4, 2025.
The AIG who paid an on-the-spot assessment visit to facility on January 5, at about 1100hrs, was received on arrival by the Commissioner of Police, Benue State Command, CP Ifeanyi Emenari, alongside the Commanding Officer, 13 Police Mobile Force, Makurdi.
During the inspection of the affected base, the AIG expressed concern over the incident and consequently directed the Commissioner of Police to immediately commence a diligent and thorough investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the fire outbreak.
In a statement signed by the Zonal Public Relations Officer, ASP Marting Ayo, the AIG further reassured members of the public that the situation has been brought under control.
He urged them to remain calm and continue with their lawful activities, as adequate security measures are in place for safety of all.
