The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 6, Calabar, AIG Rashid Afegbua, has warned officers in Cross River State Command against extortion, intimidation and harassment of members of the public.

Afegbua gave the warning on Thursday during a familiarisation visit to the Cross River State Police Command in Calabar.

The Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Jefferson Osupe, in a statement  said the AIG charged officers to shun unprofessional conduct and ensure the police is not painted in a bad light, especially in the era of technology.

The AIG, who previously served as Commissioner of Police in the state, said his visit was to strengthen coordination and assess operational needs in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu.

He commended the Commissioner of Police, CP Ajo Ordue, for his professionalism and charged officers to embrace visibility policing ahead of the festive season and forthcoming elections.

Earlier, Afegbua inspected a Guard of Honour and held interactive sessions with officers and stakeholders.
