Abia State Liaison Officer at the National Assembly (NASS), Chief Iheanyi Chinasa, has backed Governor Alex Otti on his “write your will” comment for those planning to rig the 2027 election in the state.

Governor Otti had, during his monthly media parley in Umuahia, while reacting to a question on alleged boasts by some individuals that they would write the results of the state election in 2027, said those making the boasts should first write their will.

Supporting Otti’s position, Chief Chinasa said any attempt by anybody, no matter how highly-placed, to manipulate the outcome of the polls, would be met with stout opposition by the people.

He said the era of such threats were over as Abia people are now politically awakened that they would no longer tolerate the usual intimidation and grandstanding that characterised the old Abia.

“Anyone banking on external influence or force to subvert the will of the people should have a re-think as such old tricks can no longer fly,” he said.

He said only evidence of performance, scorecards and candidates’ track records would guarantee their chances for electoral position in 2027.

“Those hiding under the cover of ‘exalted political office’ to make inflammatory remarks capable of igniting fire in the state, should beware of the implications of their actions.”

He advised anyone planning to challenge Otti in 2027, to first begin to show proof of performance in their current and previous positions of public trust.
