A’Ibom gov appoints six new high court judges

The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno has appointed six new judges for the state high court.

Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, December 12.

The six new high court judges are Mfon Winifred Umohandi, Bassey James Ekanem, Bassey Iwakaowo Essien, Comfort Henry Morrison, Edet Ekpo Ntekim, and Sharon Julius Eddie.

He said the governor approved the appointments of the legal officers as high court judges in the Akwa Ibom State Judiciary upon the recommendation of the National Judicial Council (NJC).

“The swearing-in of the newly-appointed High Court Judges by His Excellency, the Governor is scheduled for Monday, 16th December, 2024 at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Uyo by 4pm,” Uwah said.

In November, the NJC led by Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun recommended the appointment of 36 persons as judges across four states, including six in Akwa Ibom.
