In a landmark moment for the Nigerian enterprise development landscape, Ogbu Okwuchukwu Agom was formally conferred as a Fellow of the Institute for Commerce Research and Enterprise Development (ICRED) in June 2023.
The event, held in Lagos, celebrated industry leaders who have made significant strides in strengthening commercial systems and enterprise strategy in Nigeria.
Agom was honored for his pioneering work in transforming SME supply chains and enterprise frameworks. His work in designing lean, scalable logistics operations and advising SMEs on procurement and inventory control earned him national recognition and elevated his profile as a leading enterprise consultant.
Speaking at the investiture, Agom stated, “This Fellowship represents years of service to the SME ecosystem, helping businesses build capacity, reduce waste, and scale sustainably. As the Nigerian economy evolves, commerce must be underpinned by strategic innovation, not just traditional trade practices.”
He highlighted the urgent need for data-driven systems, digital integration, and value-chain transparency to empower commerce in Nigeria. “Our small businesses are the heartbeat of the economy, but they need structure. From demand forecasting to vendor management, we must reengineer commerce for productivity and inclusion,” he said.
The President of ICRED praised Agom’s leadership in commerce research, stating, “Ogbu represents a rare blend of theory and practice. His work exemplifies what it means to build systems, not just businesses.”
Agom’s fellowship induction was widely covered across enterprise networks and professional platforms, where peers hailed it as a well-deserved honor for a consistent champion of enterprise excellence.
