The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), South-East Zone, recently brought together actors from the region’s five states through its Patrons Cup and Patrons Night, held in Enugu on October 3, 2026. The event, organised by the South-East Zone under the leadership of the National Vice President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Clement Anigbo, popularly known as AB Cowboy, featured a football competition, entertainment and an award presentation aimed at fostering unity and stronger relationships among actors across the region.

Speaking on the purpose of the event, Anigbo said the initiative was designed to give actors from different state chapters an opportunity to meet and interact beyond their individual states.

“The major thing was to bring the states in the South-East together — Enugu, Anambra, Imo, Ebonyi and Abia- to come and engage in our football competition, fraternise with each other and know the members in different states of the South-East,” he told Saturday Sun.

Anambra State emerged victorious after defeating Imo State in the final.

“The event was very interesting and entertaining. Anambra and Imo played the final and Anambra State emerged the winner,” Anigbo said.

Beyond the football competition, the programme continued in the evening with the Patrons’ Night and award presentation at Oakland Hotel, Enugu.

One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of the 2026 Patron Award to Archbishop Onyekachi Nzekwesi.

The event drew prominent members of the guild, including the National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Alhaji Abubakar Yakubu; the National Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Chief Emmanuel Oguguwo; and actors such as Vitalis Ndubuisi, Clemcy Onyelu, Ofiafiagu Mbaka, and the Anaeke twins, Chidinma and Chidibere Anaeke.

According to Anigbo, the initiative was not meant to be a one-off gathering, as the Patrons Cup is expected to become an annual event under the National Vice President of AGN, South-East Zone.

“This event is going to be an annual event from the office of the Vice President, Actors Guild of Nigeria, South-East,” he assured.
