The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, has assured local and foreign investors that laws are in place to safeguard their business interests in Nigeria.

Fagbemi gave the assurance on Tuesday at a dinner he hosted for the Nigerian delegation to the ongoing International Bar Association (IBA) 2026 Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Among those present were the Minister of State for Works, Bello Musa Goronyo, lawyers, diplomats, members of the Nigerian communities in Denmark and neighbouring Sweden, and their foreign friends.

The AGF said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was committed to building a stronger Nigeria through economic policies and laws that would boost investor confidence.

“The administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains committed to strengthening the rule of law, improving access to justice, modernising the administration of justice, strengthening prosecution and law-enforcement institutions, promoting respect for human rights, and creating a legal environment in which citizens and investors can have confidence,” he said.

He urged lawyers and other Nigerians to join hands with the government to make the country greater.

Goronyo described Fagbemi as a man of courage and urged the gathering to support Tinubu’s reform efforts.

Nigeria’s Ambassador to Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway, Lola Akande, said the strength, independence and credibility of legal institutions were vital to the confidence of citizens, investors and international partners.

“That is why the work we do here matters. It matters to the individual whose rights require protection. It matters to the investor seeking confidence and predictability. It matters to businesses operating across borders,” she added.

Speaking on behalf of the Nigerian delegation, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Yusuf Ali, commended Fagbemi for setting precedents in the nation’s legal victories and for hosting the gathering every year since assuming office.

This was contained in a statement by his Special Assistant, Communication and Publicity, Kamurudeen Ogundele.
