Aston Villa legend, Gabriel Agbonlahor has branded the club’s reported pursuit of Alejandro Garnacho a “nightmare”, insisting the Chelsea winger is not good enough for Villa Park.
The 22-year-old Argentina international has emerged as a potential replacement for Morgan Rogers, who joined Chelsea in a club-record £117m deal this week.
Talks about Garnacho were held between Villa and Chelsea during negotiations for Rogers.
Reacting on talkSPORT Breakfast, Agbonlahor said he was “horrified” by the prospect of the move.
“No! Break, advertisements time. Don’t want to talk about it. It’s not happening. It’s a dream, a nightmare!” he said.
The former Villa striker, who scored 87 goals for the club, questioned Garnacho’s quality and attitude.
“He’s not a good player. Like whenever I’ve watched him, he can’t get past the full-back,” Agbonlahor said.
“In his last five, six games for Chelsea last season, honestly, he would run to the full-back, turn around and pass it back. He was scared to take a player on”.

Agbonlahor also pointed to Garnacho’s exit from Manchester United and a difficult season at Stamford Bridge as red flags.
“There’s a reason why he’s a Manchester United reject. There’s a reason why he’s a Chelsea reject,” he said.
“From his career that I followed at Manchester United, he’s got the ego of Ronaldo or Messi, but he hasn’t got the talent of David Bellion that used to play at Manchester United 20 years ago”.
The ex-forward acknowledged that Villa boss Unai Emery has revived careers, citing Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio, but said Garnacho was “a lost cause”.
“If there’s any manager who can sort him out, then it’s Unai Emery”, he added, while claiming “99 per cent of Villa fans are saying, ‘NO’, capital letters, including myself”.
Garnacho fell out of favour at Manchester United under Ruben Amorim last season and later at Chelsea, where he scored once in 24 Premier League appearances.
He is also reported to have offers from AS Roma.
