Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Jimi Agbaje, yesterday took his campaign to Epe, the home of Lagos State governor Mr Akinwumi Ambode.
Agbaje accused the current political powers in the state of massive corruption and impunity, promising he would make a difference if elected.
He also assured the people of Epe that his administration would prioritise human capital and infrastructural development.
“They are claiming now that they are not doing government work but they are so rich that bullion vans loaded with cash can be driven into their private compound. Where did all their money come from? We remember when they came in 1998, they had no money then. Now 20 years after, they have become richer than Lagos,” Agbaje said.
He said Saturday’s elections will not be about himself, but “about freedom for the people of Lagos State,” and urged Lagosians to go out and vote for the PDP, and also wait for their votes to be counted because the law allows voters to know the results of their voting.
Meanwhile, a former aide of Governor Ambode, Mr Wale Oluwo assured the people of Epe that Agbaje would continue the developmental strides begun by Ambode.
The former Commissioner of Energy said land acquisitions in the Epe and Lekki-Ajah axis would be reviewed in favour of the people if the PDP wins the governorship election.
“Agbaje and his deputy have assured me that they will continue the good work that Ambode began in Epe but has not been allowed to finish.
“I resigned from the government when they began doing the nonsense they wanted to do. They say that in Nigeria it is difficult for a public official to resign, but I resigned on my own,” Oluwo said.
