Former Super Eagles striker Victor Agali was among prominent guests who witnessed budding talents on display at the 4th edition of the Phidel Group of Schools Biennial Inter-House Sports held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at the Yabatech Main Stadium in Lagos.

The colourful sporting fiesta, chaired by former Assistant Controller General of Customs, Kayode Olusemire (rtd), also attracted several dignitaries including Major General I.A Ajose and Mrs M.I Ajose. Iyaloja-General of the Federation, Chief Mrs Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, and the Oba of Isheri Olofin Kingdom, Oba Ibrahim Lawal Bello, served as mother and father of the day respectively.

Adding glamour to the event, Deaconess Funmi Peters, Mr Etim Bassy, ACG Kayode Olusemire (rtd) and Mr Taye Ige were unveiled as patrons of the four competing houses — Blue, Green, Red and Yellow.

Students thrilled spectators with impressive performances across a variety of activities such as relays, ball-picking contests and novelty races. At the end of the competition, Yellow House emerged overall champions with 17 gold, 10 silver and 11 bronze medals. Green House finished second with 10 gold, 12 silver and 11 bronze, while Red House placed third after securing 9 gold, 10 silver and 13 bronze. Blue House completed the standings with 7 gold, 12 silver and 7 bronze medals.

Chairman/CEO of the institution, Pastor Ayodele Philip Adelusi, commended participants and described the 2026 edition as a foundation for greater achievements. He noted that the establishment of the school was driven by a desire to give back to society and nurture future stars, while praising teachers and parents for their support in developing the pupils.

Chairman of the day, Olusemire, also lauded the students for what he described as world-class displays capable of propelling them to greater heights. However, he expressed concern over the absence of key sports bodies, including the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, stressing the importance of institutional presence in discovering young talents.

Patron of Yellow House, Mr Taye Ige, celebrated his team’s triumph and the impressive turnout of supporters, noting that the quality of talent showcased could attract corporate partnerships to future editions of the event.
