Again, power grid collapses for fourth time in 2024

Nigeria’s power infrastructure has collapsed again, leaving the country with only 0.80 megawatts of energy.

According to the website of Independent System Operator, an independent part of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), power plants’ contributions to the grid began to fall at about 2 pm to 2,797.16MW from an average of 3,417.99MW at 1 pm.

The electrical contribution dropped to 1,020.08 at about 3 pm before plummeting to 0.80 by 4 pm.

According to Daily Trust, the Trans-Amadi Power Plant produced 0.80. This is the fourth power grid failure in 2024.

Meanwhile, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has voiced unhappiness with Nigeria’s inadequate electricity output, considering the country’s large size.
