Again, kidnappers kill driver, abduct passengers in Imo

Just few days after armed men attacked the advance team of  Abia State governor,Alex Otti,at a location near the Imo airport, Ngor-Okpala,again, heavily armed men have shot and killed a driver and abducted occupants of the vehicle in almost same location on Sunday.

In a statement,Imo state police public relations officer,Henry Okoye, explained that the armed hoodlums were said to have sprung from the bush, along the road at Amala, Ngor-Okpala, shot dead the  driver of a Toyota Highlander,with registration number:SMK514BD.

The hoodlums were said to have also attacked a Lexus RS300 and abducted all occupants of the vehicle in same operation.

Meanwhile,Okoye said the  police have  launched  manhunt for the attackers, vowed  to rescue the abducted victims and apprehend all those involved.

The statement reads in part:”Preliminary findings indicate that at about 5:50 pm , armed men emerged from a bush path at Amala, shot the driver of a Toyota Highlander , with registration number:SMK 514 BD, and abducted the occupants of a Lexus RS300 (FSD 334 XA).

“On receiving the information, officers from Ngor-Okpala Division swiftly mobilised to the scene, secured the area, and evacuated the victim to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead.

“Consequently, joint security operatives have commenced bush-combing, search-and-rescue, and suspect-tracking within the Amala forest axis and surrounding communities. Investigations have commenced with promising progress made towards apprehending those responsible.

“The Command assures residents that all necessary resources are being deployed to rescue the victim and forestall future occurrences”. Okoye stated.
