The Acting Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo (FUHSO), Professor Stephen Abah has inaugurated the institution’s Wide Accreditation Committee with a charge on them to put FUHSO first.
Preforming the ceremony at the Otada campus of the University, in Otukpo, Prof Abah tasked the committee on professionalism and patriotism, stressing that FUHSO is racing against time.
The Acting Chief Executive Officer of FUHSO said the committee
is charged to obtain submission from the departments reference materials and to review the National Universities Commission (NUC) check list for the Programmes.
They are to also conduct a mock accreditation, identify gaps from the mock accreditation, prepare souvenirs for the accreditation team, prepare handbooks for programmes and make recommendations to the management.
The committee is also to advise management on other related issues and prepare budget for accreditation exercise adding that they are expected to submit their report on Wednesday, 11th December, 2024.
He explained that the accreditation plans were for the first set of FUHSO medical students, currently in 300L preparing for their 400L Clinicals.
Speaking on behalf of the members, the chairman of the committee, and Director of Academic Planning and Control of the institution, Professor Sylvanus Okpe thanked the acting Vice Chancellor for finding them worthy to serve promising to deliver excellent report and within the stipulated period.

Onogwu, said members of the committee are Prof Edache Sylvanus Okpe, Chairman, Mr. John Aba,Bursar, Dr Kathryn Philip, Librarian, Mr. Michael Ogiji, Ag. Registrar, Prof. Edwin Ogwuche, Dean, Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences, Prof. Cornelius Elachi, Ag. Dean, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, Prof. Onyemocho Audu, Director, Institute of Global Health and Health Security.
Other include Prof. Friday Okibe, Ag. HOD, Chemistry, Prof Joseph Okopi of the department of Microbiology, Dr. Rose Abah, Deputy Provost and Chairman/Head, School of Remedial Sciences (SRS), Dr. Wadai Mutah, Ag. Dean, Faculty of Sciences, Dr Jeremiah Oloche , Therapeutics and Pharmacology department, Dr. Michael Efu, Ag. Dean, Students’ Affairs, Dr. Grace Abakpa, Microbiology department and Mr. Michael Onazi, Assistant Registrar, who will serve as Secretary.
The Chairman of the committee was given the liberty to coop any Staff as the need arises.
