The fifth AFROEUROPA Gala & Awards Night was held in London with a call for greater investment in young people, education, healthcare, community safety and cultural tolerance.
The event, held on September 19, 2026, at The City Pavilion, Romford, was themed “Fostering a United & Flourishing Community for Future Generations.”
Speakers, including Professor Pavin Somani and Executive Secretary of Nigeria’s Universal Basic Education Commission, Dr Aisha Garba, stressed the importance of quality education, healthcare, crime prevention and drug awareness in securing the future of young people.
The event attracted dignitaries and community leaders, including the Mayor of Islington, Councillor Rosaline Ogunro; Mayor of Barking and Dagenham, Councillor Manzoor Hussain; and former Enfield Mayor, Dr Kate Anolue, alongside diplomats from the Nigeria High Commission, councillors, entrepreneurs and community leaders.
A cultural performance by the Warmis Ecuadorian cultural group highlighted the event’s message of unity and inclusion, while the awards ceremony recognised individuals contributing to community development.
AFROEUROPA also announced its support for DL Games, an initiative focused on cancer awareness and fundraising for haematology cancer care at University College London Hospital.
The organisation said the annual gala, which does not feature a fundraising segment, remains focused on supporting charities and initiatives that promote stronger, healthier and more inclusive communities.
