Barzan Holdings, Qatar’s national defence and security firm, highlighted its cutting-edge technologies and industrial capabilities at the 2026 Africa International Defence Exhibition (AFRIDEX) in Lagos, aiming to advance defence innovation and support Nigeria’s evolving security needs.
As a primary sponsor of the exhibition, the firm engaged key Nigerian stakeholders to explore commercial, technological, and industrial collaborations across its four core divisions: weapons and ammunition; advanced technology; platforms; and services, support, and accessories.
At the event, the Qatari firm also showcased its specialized weapons portfolio, highlighting the Q1 Corner rifle and the recently launched BIG556 rifles in 4.5-inch and 7-inch configurations—both designed and manufactured in Qatar.
Engr. Thamer Al Emadi, Regional General Manager for Africa at Barzan Holdings and Managing Director of DICON-SUR, noted that the exhibition offered a vital platform to align the company’s capabilities with Nigeria’s national security priorities. He emphasized that advanced technology and local industrial cooperation remain central to tackling regional security threats.
“We are here at AFRIDEX to discuss Nigeria’s defence needs and explore how Barzan Holdings can support them through modern products, services, and potential technology partnerships. We are open to developing tailored solutions that address the specific requirements of the Nigerian Defence Forces and contribute to strengthening the country’s sovereign security,” Al Emadi stated.
