Healthy Living and Women Empowerment Initiative (HELWEI) will bring together young nutrition advocates and agricultural innovators from Nigeria and Kenya on Saturday to strengthen youth participation in the global nutrition agenda.

The International Youth Day 2026 forum, themed, “Youths in the Global Nutrition Agenda,” will examine practical ways young people can help build healthier communities and more sustainable food systems across Africa.

With the sub-theme, “Shared Goals: Inspiring the Future,” the programme will feature conversations on technology and digital solutions, agriculture and food entrepreneurship, food activism and advocacy, youth leadership in nutrition and sustainable food systems.

HELWEI said the discussions would move beyond rhetoric by exploring how young change-makers could translate conversations into concrete actions capable of shaping a healthier and more sustainable future.

Executive Director of HELWEI, Ebere Okey-Onyema, will host the event, which is being organised in partnership with TeenAfrica.

Speakers include Youth Ambassador of the SUN Civil Society Alliance in Nigeria, Finian Ali; Kenyan youth nutrition advocate, Kamau Amos; and agricultural educator and founder of Garden Series, Ogemdi Muoh.

The forum is expected to provide a platform for participants from Nigeria, Kenya and other countries to share experiences and develop common approaches to some of Africa’s most pressing nutrition and food-security challenges.

The organisers said greater youth involvement was critical to advancing innovation, advocacy and entrepreneurship across the nutrition and agricultural value chains. The programme will hold at 2pm West African Time and 4pm East African Time on Saturday, August 29.
