Kolawole’s victory comes just hours after Christianah Ogunsanya clinched Nigeria’s first gold in the 53kg division, marking a brilliant start for Team Nigeria on Day 1 of the prestigious continental tournament.

Esther Kolawole had earlier showcased her world-class form with a technical 10-0 victory over Senegal’s Safietou Goudialy in the preliminary round. She brought that same fire into the final, outclassing her opponent to stand atop the podium
