Ahead of the 2023 African Games, the Athletes Federation of Nigeria (AFN) is banking on the home-based athletes for a successful outing at the 2024 All African Games, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Federation under Tonobok Okowa is already having insinuations that foreign-based athletes may not be available for the game.

The president while speaking to the Punch Correspondent said they will make use of the home athletes if the foreign ones are not available.

“We will go there and see what we can do. If most of our foreign-based athletes will not come, we will use our home-based athletes to participate in the competition.

Our technical department is working hard. We will put some of the home-based athletes in camp.

“For the foreign-based, we will work with the sports ministry to see if they can give some training grants so that they can fly straight to Ghana”, he said.
