Afghan security forces kill 8 Taliban militants
Eight Taliban militants and one Afghan soldier were on Saturday killed, while five soldiers and four insurgents were injured when the militants attacked Afghanistan’s Darqad district of the northern Takhar province.
Provincial government spokesman Abdul Khalil Asir said on Saturday that government security forces successfully repelled the attack and the armed group after suffering casualties fled away,

“The Taliban insurgents launched massive offensive to overrun the headquarters of Darqad district at 01:00 a.m. local time today.

”The security forces retaliated, forcing the insurgents to flee after suffering casualties,” Asir told Xinhua.

Asir, however, didn’t provide more details. An army officer, Abdul Razeq, confirmed the fighting  with further details.

Razeq said “eight Taliban rebels and one soldier were killed and nine others including five soldiers and four insurgents were injured” in the fire-fight which lasted for a couple of hours.”
