Fulham’s head coach, Marco Silva, has admitted that the team would miss Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey, and Samuel Chukwueze during the 2025 African Cup of Nations.

Iwobi, Bassey, and Chukwueze left for AFCON duty after the Cottagers defeated Burnley 3-2 on Saturday. The trio might be absent for up to a month, depending on Nigeria’s performance in the competition.

Silva acknowledged the importance of the three players, but said that it creates a chance for others to come up.

“We are talking about three important players. I will not hide their importance, but you cannot change it. It was in the schedule and we knew it. Now is the time for others to step in, show their quality, and prove that we can trust them,” Silva told the club’s official website.

Nigeria will begin their campaign against the Taifa Stars of Tanzania next Tuesday.
