AFCON trophy is coming home – Adebanjo

The Cup is coming home and it’s our turn. These were the words of UAE-based international sports consultant and football business development expert Mr. Ibrahim Ibikunle Adebanjo the Group Managing Director of Divinelinks Sports Group with office in Lagos, Dubai, Manchester, Antwerp and Stuttgart when he paid a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Super Eagles camp in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Adebanjo in accompanying with his partner Mr. Gilmore Saaimana, a south African FIFA Licensed agent based in the UAE noted that the visit was for the sports consultant to lend his support for the team and pass on words of encouragement to the players and entire staff.

He used the opportunity to officially congratulate Victor Osimhen on his award of the African best player of the year. He told Sunday Sunsports that the camp is good with a very great spirit among the players. “The City is prefect, well secured, conducive with a very good weather for the players and staff from hotel to the training ground and back to the hotel all the arrangement is a top notch.”

He revealed that Victor Osimhen was well received back by his teammates and the entire staff officially with a standing ovation on his award congratulating him and wishing him all the best in his career and AFCON.

. Osimhen, he noted thanked his teammates and staff for their support and encouragement while also wishing all the players’ good luck ahead of AFCON and charged them to go all out for victory in Abidjan to win the tournament.

It was gathered that the Sports consultant had discussions and chats with the players to air their thoughts and readiness for the AFCON speaking with the likes of Victor Osimhen, Victor Boniface, Ahmed Musa, Kenneth Omeruo, William Troost-Ekong, Samuel Chukwueze and others.

“All the players are optimistic with good positive spirit of our chances to win the AFCON.”

The sports consultant in his capacity as a sports psychologist having dealing with players for over 15 years feels that the players in Camp are having the right mentality and spirit ahead of the AFCON and the players believed in the quality of the players currently in the team to make us proud in Abidjan.

Furthermore the sports consultant had a deep conversation and discussion with some of the technical staff and the two Nigeria ex-Internationals with the team in persons of Finidi George and Patrick Pascal discussing in details with them all the sections of the team from the goalkeeping, defense, Midfield and the attacking line sharing a good knowledge of the great potentials in the team and our chances in the tournament but the main headache is the attacking line on who to start.

“The attacking options are much because all these players in their roles are very good players doing well in their respective clubs. At the end of the conversation all parties agreed that the time is right and the time is now.

In addition to ensure that all is good in the camp the sports consultant had a brief chat with the medical department to ensure all is good medically with the players. “Currently everything is okay and they are all good 100 percent. We pray for them to be injury free from now and all through the tournament even after when they all get back to their various clubs.”

The Super Eagles would be playing a friendly game today in Abu Dhabi under closed doors, no fans, no guest strictly only players and officials no other parties are allowed to enter and watch the game.
