The federal government has announced a timeframe within which the Super Eagles will receive their outstanding match bonuses for the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Speaking in a statement issued on Thursday, the Minister of State for Finance, Doris Uzoka-Anite, stated that the bonuses have cleared the necessary regulatory stages.
Ozoka-Anite disclosed that the payments would be reflected in the players’ domiciliary accounts “starting today or tomorrow”.
On Wednesday, the Super Eagles threatened to boycott their travel to the host city for their quarter-final match at the AFCON due to unpaid allowances.
The team is scheduled to face Algeria in the quarter-final on Saturday in Marrakesh.
Marrakesh is five hours away from their current base, and the Super Eagles are to travel from Fez to Marrakesh on Thursday.

Both players and officials resolved to miss the trip unless they received bonuses for all four matches played at the tournament.
Addressing the issue, Ozoka-Anite shared that the delay in payment was caused by the “conversion process to move funds into foreign currency”, which she added was the players’ preference.
According to the minister, the process had now been fast-tracked and that the “final transfers to domiciliary accounts are currently in flight”.
“The Federal Government and the Central Bank of Nigeria have successfully streamlined the foreign exchange processing to ensure our players are rewarded without further delay.
“Going forward, the process will be fully streamlined to ensure faster and more predictable disbursements aligned with international best practice,” she said.
