Akpabio’s message was conveyed in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon Eseme Eyiboh, on Sunday.

“On behalf of my family, constituents and the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to the Super Eagles on their outstanding achievement in securing the bronze medal at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations,” the Senate President said.

He praised the team’s performance in the third-place match against Egypt, noting that it demonstrated skill, determination and resilience.

According to him, the victory reflects the depth of talent Nigeria is known for and underscores the country’s strong presence on the international sporting stage, “a reflection of the talent and resilience that Nigeria is known for, and we are proud to have you represent our country on the international stage.”

Akpabio urged the players to build on the achievement and aim for greater success in future competitions, stressing that their performance would motivate Nigerians across the country “to strive for even greater heights in your future endeavours.”
