The Super Eagles have arrived in Bissau ahead of tomorrow’s crucial 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Guinea-Bissau.
The Nigerian team departed the Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo, yesterday evening after completing their final training session ahead of the Group L encounter.
The Eagles travelled aboard a chartered ValueJet flight and arrived at the Osvaldo Vieira International Airport, Bissau, at about 8:40pm.
Super Eagles Media Officer, Promise Efoghe, confirmed the team’s departure and arrival, saying coach Eric Chelle and his players held their final training session in Uyo before leaving Nigeria.
“The Super Eagles had a final training session earlier on Sunday morning in Uyo before coach Eric Chelle and his players departed for Guinea-Bissau at about 5 p.m.
“The team went on board a chartered ValueJet flight,” Efoghe said.
Nigeria head into the match on the back of a 2-1 victory over Madagascar at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, on Friday.
Guinea-Bissau, however, currently sit ahead of Nigeria in Group L on goal difference after beating Tanzania 2-0 in their opening qualifier.
The Djurtus, ranked 132nd in the world and 38th in Africa, will host Nigeria at the Estádio Nacional 24 de Setembro in Bissau.
Nigeria and Guinea-Bissau have met four times, with the West Africans winning once. Their only victory came during the 2023 AFCON qualifiers when they defeated the Eagles 1-0 at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja.
With only the group winner guaranteed a place at AFCON 2027, the Eagles will be under pressure to secure a positive result in Bissau.
Tanzania, one of the co-hosts of the tournament, have already secured qualification, leaving the remaining teams competing for the group’s sole qualifying ticket.
