Cameroon booked a place in the knockout phase after beating The Gambia in a pulsating five-goal thriller on Tuesday night at the Stade de la Paix in Bouaké, Côte d’Ivoire.
The Indomitable Lions qualified as the second best team with 4points behind Group C leader Senegal (9points), after leapfrogging Guinea on total number of goals scored despite on same points and no goal difference.
Both teams recorded a win, draw and loss each, but Cameroon scored a total of five (5), while Guinea managed two (2) in the group.
Meanwhile, the last time both teams met was in 2021, in a double-header international friendly in Austria.
Cameroon defeated Nigeria in one of the games and drew the second, as both matches were played behind closed doors due to COVID-19 restrictions at Wiener Neustadt.
