AFCON: 3 teams Nigeria could face in Round of 16 revealed

Super Eagles

By Seyi Babalola

The three countries Nigeria might face in the final 16 of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations have been announced.

The Super Eagles qualified for the knockout stages as Group C champions, defeating Tanzania, Tunisia, and Uganda.

Eric Chelle’s men might potentially face Cameroon, Mozambique, or the Ivory Coast in the quarterfinals.

The team’s former publicity officer, Colin Udoh, announced this on his X account.

Udoh wrote: “Nigeria will play the best third-placed team in Group F. At this time, that can be any of CIV, Cameroon or Mozambique.

“Gabon are unlikely to beat CIV, so that removes the Elephants, even if they draw.

“But Mozambique could well do the unthinkable and beat Cameroon. That means Nigeria play Cameroon. Just like in 2019.”
