Players and officials of the Super Eagles arrived Fes, Morocco Thursday as preparations intensify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) but could not hold there first training.During their stay in Egypt, the Super Eagles held a series of training sessions and played an international friendly against the Pharaohs as part of their build-up to the biennial tournament.
Nigeria suffered a 2–1 defeat to Egypt at the Cairo International Stadium, marking head coach Éric Chelle’s first loss since he assumed duty earlier in the year.
Despite the result, the encounter provided valuable match fitness and tactical insight ahead of the continental showpiece.

Nigeria will begin their AFCON campaign in Group C against Tanzania on December 23, face Tunisia on December 27, and conclude the group stage against Uganda on December 30.
Chelle will be aiming to steer the Super Eagles to a fourth AFCON title in Morocco, as the team looks to restore pride and confidence following the disappointment of failing to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
