Star striker Victor Osimhen is expected to captain the Super Eagles in Nigeria’s AFCON 2025 semi-final against hosts Morocco.
Eagles’ substantive skipper Wilfred Ndidi will miss the Morocco tie after picking up a second knockout yellow card in yesterday’s 2-0 quarter final win over Algeria.
Ndidi was booked in the 67th minute for time wasting and he was also cautioned in the 38th minute in the Round of 16 clash against Mozambique.

The two yellows in the knockout stage of the tournament means the Turkey based midfielder is suspended for Nigeria’s next game against Atlas Lions of Morocco.
In the absence of Ndidi, Club Brugge of Belgium midfielder Rafael Onyedika is expected to step in for Nigeria against hosts Morocco.
The semi final game between both nations kicks off at 8pm, Nigeria time on Wednesday 14 January 2026 in Rabat.
