Adunni Ade mourns mother’s death

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Adunni Ade has announced the death of her mother after a prolonged illness.

The actress disclosed the news in an emotional Instagram post on Monday, stating that her mother died on Sunday, October 18, after battling an undisclosed illness.

Expressing her grief over the loss, Adunni described her mother’s death as painful while submitting to the will of Allah.

“With a heavy heart and submission to the will of Almighty Allah, I announce the passing of my beloved mother, who returned to her Creator on October 18 after a long battle with illness,” she wrote.

The actress, who began her announcement with the Islamic declaration, “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un,” said her mother left behind children, grandchildren, sisters and other loved ones.

She prayed for Allah’s forgiveness and mercy upon her late mother, asking for strength to cope with the loss.

“Ya Allah, forgive her shortcomings, have mercy upon her, make her grave spacious and filled with light, and grant her Al-Jannah Firdaus. Grant us sabr and strength as we navigate this painful loss. Ameen,” she prayed.

Adunni also expressed her enduring love for her mother, hoping they would be reunited in paradise.

“Mum, I love you. May Allah grant you eternal peace and reunite us in Jannah. Ameen,” she added.

The actress said funeral arrangements would be announced later.

Meanwhile, colleagues, fans and well-wishers have been sending condolence messages to the actress following the announcement.
