Aduke returns with Aralamo after 6 years 

Six years after releasing her debut album, Nigerian singer-songwriter Aduke is preparing to return to recorded music with “Aralamo,”  a deeply personal song about betrayal, intuition and the difficult truths people sometimes choose to overlook.

Scheduled for release on September 11, 2026, the single marks Aduke’s first new release since 2020 and the beginning of a new chapter in her musical journey.

At the heart of “Aralamo” is the realisation that the warning signs in a relationship may have been visible long before the truth became impossible to ignore. Sometimes, the signs are not missed; they are easier to dismiss when we want to believe the best in someone.

The experience gives the song a universal emotional pull, touching on trust, disappointment and the moment when hindsight brings clarity.

Musically, Aduke draws from Afro Neo-Soul, Afro-Jazz, soul and world music, with African rhythms and Yoruba storytelling continuing to shape her sound.

Her years since 2020 have also brought a wider perspective. Moving between Nigeria and the UK, she has continued to develop her craft while exploring what it means to carry African identity across borders.

That theme came through in “Omo Yoruba in London,” a classic reimagining that reflected on Yoruba identity, belonging and life in Britain. It offered a glimpse into Aduke’s evolving relationship with culture, place and music.

“Aralamo” takes a more intimate direction, but both works are rooted in the same instinct for honest storytelling.

The six-year pause has also given Aduke space to experience life beyond the cycle of recording and releasing music—and to return with new stories and a clearer sense of the artist she wants to be.

Rather than attempting to pick up where she left off, she is using “Aralamo” to move forward.

The single opens a new chapter in Aduke’s music and performance, with plans to reconnect with audiences in Nigeria, the UK and beyond.
