The YM4YAYI movement has taken its grassroots empowerment initiative to Ogun Waterside Local Government Area of Ogun State, with its Convener, Comr. Adigun Uthman, leading the distribution of farm equipment and protective helmets to farmers and motorists across all 10 wards of the local government.
The empowerment programme, held on Friday, September 19, 2026, was organised as part of the movement’s efforts to support hardworking residents, strengthen livelihoods and bring practical assistance directly to communities at the grassroots.
The initiative reached beneficiaries across Wards 1 to 10, making it a broad-based empowerment programme covering the entire local government area rather than being limited to a particular ward or community.
Farmers were among the major beneficiaries of the programme, receiving farm equipment intended to support their agricultural activities and improve their ability to contribute to food production and household income.
Motorists also benefited from the initiative through the distribution of safety helmets, aimed at encouraging safer road use and supporting commercial and private motorists within the local government.
The programme attracted residents, community stakeholders, beneficiaries and supporters who gathered to participate in the empowerment exercise and witness the distribution of the materials.
Speaking on the initiative, the Convener of YM4YAYI, Comr. Adigun Uthman, said the programme was driven by the belief that meaningful development must reach people at the grassroots.
According to him, empowerment should not only be discussed as a political or social concept but should translate into tangible support capable of improving the daily lives of ordinary residents.
The initiative, he explained, was designed to identify some of the practical needs of people within Ogun Waterside and respond to them through direct interventions.
The distribution of farm equipment was particularly targeted at supporting farmers whose activities remain central to the local economy and the livelihood of many families across Ogun Waterside.
Similarly, the provision of helmets to motorists was aimed at promoting safety while recognising the important role of transportation workers in connecting communities and supporting economic activities within the local government.
The organisers said the decision to extend the exercise across all 10 wards was deliberate, stressing that grassroots development should be inclusive and should not be concentrated in only selected areas.
The programme therefore brought the empowerment initiative closer to residents in different communities, allowing beneficiaries from across Ogun Waterside to participate.

The YM4YAYI team also expressed appreciation to the Chairman of Ogun Waterside Local Government for his support, as well as community leaders, stakeholders and residents who contributed to the success of the programme.
The organisers said the turnout and participation demonstrated the importance of initiatives that directly engage communities and respond to the needs of residents.
They also acknowledged the leadership and vision of Senator Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, whose commitment to grassroots engagement and development remains central to the activities of the YM4YAYI movement.
The organisers described the empowerment exercise as part of a broader grassroots mobilisation effort aimed at creating stronger connections between leadership and communities while supporting residents through practical initiatives.
Rather than focusing solely on political gatherings, the movement said it intends to continue promoting programmes that directly touch the lives of residents and provide support in areas such as agriculture, transportation, youth development and community empowerment.
For beneficiaries, the distribution of farm equipment and helmets provided an opportunity to receive materials that could contribute to their daily economic activities and personal safety.
The organisers maintained that sustainable development requires consistent engagement with communities and an understanding of the challenges faced by people at the grassroots.
The Ogun Waterside programme also provided an avenue for stakeholders and residents across the 10 wards to interact, participate and strengthen community-level engagement.
The movement said the initiative would not be regarded as a one-off event, adding that YM4YAYI remains committed to taking its empowerment activities to more communities across Ogun State.
