Former President, African Development Bank Group, Dr Akinwumi A. Adesina, will serve as keynote speaker at the DTN@100 Awards ceremony marking the centenary of The Daily Times.
Adesina has also received his official Global Impact Award package ahead of the event to be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at the THISDAY Dome in Abuja.
The ceremony forms part of activities celebrating 100 years of The Daily Times, one of Nigeria’s historic media institutions. It is expected to draw top figures from government, business, diplomacy, development and the media.
Established in 1926, The Daily Times has chronicled Nigeria’s political, economic and social evolution for a century, serving as both a news platform and a participant in national conversations.

The DTN@100 Awards will recognise individuals and institutions whose works reflect leadership, service, innovation, enterprise and nation-building. Organisers say the gathering will celebrate the newspaper’s legacy while honouring those whose contributions have had a meaningful impact in Nigeria and beyond.
Adesina’s confirmation as keynote speaker adds weight to the occasion. A globally recognised development leader, he headed the African Development Bank Group and drove efforts on economic transformation, food security, infrastructure, innovation and sustainable growth across Africa.
His keynote is expected to address Africa’s development path, the responsibilities of leadership, and the role of institutions and individuals in building a more prosperous future. His participation also underscores the international dimension of the centenary celebrations.
The Global Impact Award recognises the broader reach of his leadership and advocacy. Adesina joins other distinguished personalities and institutions set to be honoured for contributions to national and global development.
A major highlight of the ceremony will be the unveiling and launch of the Nigerian Centenary Book of Changemakers – Magnum Opus. The commemorative publication documents the stories of Nigerians and institutions whose achievements have helped shape the country’s history and development. It is intended both as a celebration of excellence and a historical record for future generations.
