The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has dismissed suggestions that Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke’s popularity will guarantee him victory in the 2026 governorship election, insisting that good governance, not public display, determines electoral success.
Speaking during an interview on Channels TV Politics Today on Channels Television, Yilwatda questioned the significance of Adeleke’s public appeal, arguing that popularity should not be mistaken for effective leadership.
“Which popularity? Does dancing translate to good governance?” he asked.

The APC chairman expressed confidence that the ruling party would reclaim Osun State in the forthcoming governorship election.
“We are going to win,” Yilwatda declared.
He maintained that the APC remained focused on presenting its programmes to the electorate, expressing optimism that voters would choose the party at the polls.
