Adeleke vows to reclaim Osun’s historical place as source of Aro, adirea

Osun State Government has vowed that the Adire Osun Festival 2025 will promote the rich culture and traditions as well as reclaim Osun and Osogbo’s historical place as the source of Aro and Adire.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Teslim Igbalaye, Governor Ademola Adeleke who spoke at a press conference in Osogbo, on Monday, assured that the festival will showcase the unique Adire textile, a symbol of Osun history and creativity.

He assured that the festival will boost economic by attracting tourists, create jobs and stimulate local economy, adding that will also encourage young people to participate in cultural activities, promoting productivity and creativity.

Adeleke explained that the festival will showcase Adire textile and Osun’s rich heritage and will as well serve as a launching pad for local artisans, designers and entrepreneurs across the world.

“Adire Osun Festival 2025 will feature street show of various Colourful Adire Fabrics, with a view to promoting Osun’s rich culture and traditions as well as reclaim Osun and Osogbo’s historical place as the source of Aro and Adire,” Adeleke said.

The chairman, council for Arts and Culture, Hon. Ebenezer Adeniji, explained that the Adire Osun Festival, 2025 themed; “Creating wealth, Empowering Youths,” will hold in December.

He disclosed that the governor has approved the training over 8,000 youths across the state as part of his commitment to youth empowerment.

“We must empower the youth. If culture is to have a future, young people must feel invited into it, as makers, designers, marketers, entrepreneurs, and cultural managers.

“Empowerment requires training that is relevant, accessible, and inspirational. In the same light, we appreciate Mr. Governor for his approval to train 25 youths each in the 332 wards of the Local Governments in the State,” Adeniji said.
